What's up with Hamlet?
Learning Goals:
- We will analyse characters, symbols, themes, and elements of Shakespearean tragedy in Hamlet to make inferences about meaning
- We will read a play on the levels of plot, theme and character with growing fluency
- We will understand how stage directions and soliloquies are used to help convey meaning
- We will watch a variety of film versions of Hamlet , identifying and analyzing the perspectives and/or bias within these media texts, in order to demonstrate how they shape the play’s themes and help to convey meaning
- We will demonstrate our understanding of media conventions and bias through a media project

Throughout the unit, you will be writing informal responses to questions most days. These questions will guide your thinking about the play's characters, themes. etc. These responses will be shared with Ms. O'Connor (as a google doc), and can help you with your media project and/or final exam for the course.
